Boudoir with Ms. K

by May 29, 2020

I’ve known Ms. K for awhile, so I wasn’t actually very surprised when she approached me to get some boudoir photos done. In fact, I was psyched! There are people who I meet and I automatically think, ‘I would LOVE to photograph you’ and she was one of them. I didn’t realize until the actual session that she looked just like Angelina Jolie! In fact, we were part way through her session when the light hit her face just right and I was like ‘Woah….’

But I digress. We had a smashing good time with lots of laughter (usually when her chosen playlist spit out a kids song), outfit changes, hard but beautiful poses, and chocolate. Yes, I had chocolate there, too. Why not pamper yourself during your boudoir session, right???

Read on to learn more about her experience and see more of her gorgeous images!

R & S: What made you decide to do a boudoir session?

Ms. K: I decided to do a boudoir session just for the hell of it. For the experience, and also as a gift for someone.

R & S: What made you choose me?

Ms. K: I chose you because of your persistence and dedication. I enjoy our tit-for-tat and wanted someone who is passionate about their work to do the boudoir. I’d thought about it many times over the year but I felt comfortable enough with you to pursue it.

R & S: Describe your session planning experience. What did we do to prepare you for your session?

Ms. K: We talked a few times about what my hopes and expectations were for the session. I answered a questionnaire so you could get a better feel for what I was going for and you were gracious enough to offer to help pick out lingerie/outfit options. I also pre-picked some specific poses I wanted to try and sent them to your prior.

R & S: Nerves are always an issue with boudoir sessions. Was there anything in particular that you did to ease your nerves before the session?

Ms. K: I didn’t do anything specifically to calm my nerves, I decided to jump right in and deal with my nerves as we went. I tried to be present that morning and not overthink the impending boudoir shoot haha.

R & S: Did it take you very long to get comfortable in front of the camera? Was there anything in particular that helped you get comfortable?

Ms. K: I’m not sure if I ever got “fully” comfortable..fake it till you make it right? Your nonchalant, encouraging demeanor and a good amount of laughter helped me relax in front of the camera. The chocolate provided sure didn’t hurt either.

R & S: Can your briefly describe what happened during your session?

Ms. K: We started on time at your pop up studio, I was impressed with how nice it was as well as versatile, plenty of space and different settings to do a variety of different style of photos. We started on the couch, to the floor, to the wall, to another room, a chair, floor, wall, downstairs for silhouette shots. Lol. You helped me with positioning (a lot) …and were very patient with me about it. I changed my outfit 3-4 times and you took LOTS of photos. We had some laughs and some bloopers, all in all, it was a great experience, I didn’t feel rushed or pressured at any time.

R & S: What was your favorite part of the session? Why?

Ms. K: I love how creative you are, you know what you’re doing and you aren’t shy on offering suggestions to help people step out of their comfort zone.

R & S: What was your least favorite part of the session? Why

Ms. K: Arching my back! I thought I was better at this haha. tongue-out

R & S: How did you feel when you saw your final images?

Ms. K: Thrilled! They turned out fantastic, it took me days to work through the process of elimination to pick out my favorites.

R & S: Is there anything else you’d like to share about your experience?

Ms. K: Your process leading up to, during, and after is very thorough, you were pleasant to work with and did an amazing job. If someone is considering boudoir I think you are an excellent option for first-timers and experienced people.

R & S: Do you have any advice for other people who might be considering a boudoir session with me?

Ms. K: Practice where you want your hands in a mirror before your session and make your playlist ahead of time so you don’t have toddler songs popping on while you’re trying to be sexy tongue-out.
